During
the 2003 NHRA World Finals at Pomona, IRL star, Jaques Lazier
stopped by the Frantic Four pit and got a first hand introduction
to drag racing and a healthy taste of nitro.
In 2002
Jaques competed in four races for Team Menard before being injured
in a two-car accident in April at Nazareth. He suffered a fractured
back and missed the remainder of the 2002 season. Short season
was highlighted by starting second and finishing second at California.
Lost race to Sam Hornish Jr. by .0281 of a second, the fifth-closest
finish in IRL IndyCar Series history. Jaques led 45 laps of race,
including laps 183-198, before relinquishing lead to Hornish.
He returned to an IRL car for first time since his injury for
testing Oct.12, 2003 at Kentucky. Jaques is ready for a full
season in 2004 with Team Menard.

 Fitted his own fire suit
and helmet, Jaques gets fire up instructions from Norm Weekly
and Ron Rivero.
 Ron starts the engine as
Norm supervises the flipping of the mag switch. The starter is
activated and the fire breathing hemi comes to life.
Jaques is in awe over the sheer power of the blown
fuel hemi.
 The
Menard team is going to be very perplexed when Jaques asks for
more nitro!
Promotions
like this is what the Frantic 4 Racing Team is about. They are
a win win for everyone - fans, sponsors and racing in general.
Jaques Lazier Bio
Another
facet of the Frantic 4 program is family involvement. Also at
the NHRA Finals Ron Rivero surprised his oldest daughter, Kristi
with a fire up. Although she's been around racing her entire
life, she'd never actually sat in a running dragster.
"Dad" and Uncle Norm get Christie
into one of Ron's old firesuits, then go over the car with her.
 Obviously the smile couldn't
be wiped off her face, especially when Dad gave her one of the
helmets he wore during his driving career.
 Uncle Norm shows Kristi where
the mag switch and fuel shut off are.
With the 354 hemi belching 92%
nitro, Norm monitors the idle while Kristi enjoys "the ride".
